Description

My name is Lindsey Scheier. I am 5’5”, 120 pounds, and violently queer. I spend most of my time creating (painting, drawing, jewelry making, upcycling clothing, writing...) and reading about murders, cults, and real-life horror stories (check out the Byford Dolphin Accident!). My only talent is shoving toothpicks between the gaps in my teeth. My biggest dream is buying a mansion by the sea and housing homeless LGBTQ youth while teaching them to create in various mediums and give back to the community. If Design does not work out for me, catch me cleaning up crime scenes in a city near you! This project was an excellent introduction to the process of designing a concise and thorough visual identity for a company. I adored how one could start with just a logo design and end with a set of colors and fonts that deliver a specific emotion while in turn supporting each other visually. This project was a great introduction to using Adobe Illustrator and I am grateful to have a better understanding of the software that I can use in future endeavors.
For this project, we were tasked with conceiving of a plausible, contemporary business/company based on the name (and attributes) of a mythological figure. Once the concept was cleared by the professor, the next step was to create a combination logo (symbol + typography) using a maximum of two spot colors that visually represented our fictitious business/company. Lastly, a complete visual identity was then designed to complement the logo which included: a double-sided business card, double-sided envelope, and corporate letterhead. All elements had to be created as vector artwork via Adobe Illustrator and all elements were printed and professionally mounted/presented for final critique.
