Description

My name is Emma and I am 25 years old. I grew up with a love of music and happened to be pretty good at the clarinet when I started playing it in elementary school, so I took that passion with me all the way to college. I got a bachelor’s degree and had some of the best musical experiences in my life. After being unable to play anymore due to an auto immune disease, I decided to pursue what is now another passion of mine – coding. Luckily, there happens to be a lot of similarities to music. With web development I’m learning that I can create something that connects with people and brings joy. I want to emphasize accessibility in my projects because I want to contribute to a more accessible world. I’m just at the beginning of my web development journey, but I hope in the end I can work remotely and create beautiful experiences on the web. This project in particular allowed me to play a lot with design – making me think about color, typography, sizing – and really consider user experience. The three-option color theme for this website seems like the best way to give the user the most flexibility. I will probably come back to this project a lot for when I want to implement dark mode on another website. I learned so much, and it’s probably the nicest looking website I’ve made yet. I’m looking forward to the next project so I can keep improving.
A responsive website that displays a small poem by Edward Lear and an image. Also included are different color modes - light, dark, and system – that the user can select. The browser will remember the user’s selection the next time they visit the site.
