Description
I'm an artist and graphic designer born and raised in New Jersey. I enjoy doing art and generally being creative in my free time, I also enjoy spending my time cooking, baking, skateboarding, and being in nature. I've always been an artistic and creative person, my mom raised me doing art since I can remember. I found my place in art doing graffiti since 4th grade, but I never adapted to other forms of art until late in high school. After high school, I spent a year at Montclair University before dropping out and coming to RVCC. My time at Montclair was some of the roughest I've had in recent times, which snowballed from me breaking my leg my second day there.
The piece I made "Put to Rest" resembles me moving past the trauma I went through resulting from my time at Montclair. The subject is a sculpture I made at Montclair of a cast of my hand attached to the neck of a broken violin which represents how art gives life to things that are past it's prime or broken. However, in my piece the sculpture was broken which ironically represents my time at the school where I made it. I decided to place it in an open box, draping black fabric over it, as well as putting some roses around it to symbolize paying respect to the past. To me it resembles an open casket for all that I went through at and after Montclair in recovery. This piece has inspired me to keep moving forward on my path while avoiding focusing on past trauma, but not without paying respect to the events that shape who I am.
