Description
Call me Kye. I'm a recent Filipino immigrant, and a freshman student at Raritan Valley Community College (RVCC). I play a lot of VALORANT (add me @beef yerger #maxed), and I love to make visual arts & crafts.
I'm currently pursuing an Associate's in Health Science, and plan to steer my career path towards Occupational Therapy or Psychiatric Rehabilitation & Psychology. Having a non-verbal autistic brother, I was motivated to look more into his disability and had the perfect opportunity to do so through ENG111's research project requisite. Moreover, I wanted to relate art therapy methods (as art is a huge area of interest for me) and wanted to figure out its linkages with ASD treatment.
Art & Autism is a virtual magazine and developed as a research project requisite for English Composition I. The 19-page project ties in applications derived from psychological and artistic perspectives, and it consists of five main articles with extraneous pages regarding Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and art therapy interventions. With the zine Art & Autism, I wanted to explore the transformative power of art therapy, focusing on its ability to enhance autistic children's communicative and artistic skills. The motive of its publication is to bridge the gap between medical knowledge and social awareness, advocating for art interventions that can positively impact the lives of non-verbal autistic children.
