Description

"Spinning Song" by Hub Miller performed by Sarah Stefaniak (mezzo-soprano) and accompanied by Dr. Anna Keiserman (piano). I have been performing since I was 2 years old and have always known that whatever I did, I knew I'd be using my voice to do it. The first time I ever sang in a choir was when I was 8 years old, and I haven't stopped singing since! I participated in several school and community theatre productions during my middle and high school years, but I always knew that vocal performance was where my true passion lay. One of the reasons that this piece in particular is so important to me is because this was the first piece of classical music I performed that I felt I truly connected with. Classical music as a genre was one that always intimidated me, as I had some very negative experiences in my teenage years with self-confidence and toxic individuals in positions of power. However, since joining the RVCC Music Program and finding this song in particular, my eyes have been opened to a wide variety of genres that I not only enjoy listening to but also performing. Music has saved many parts of me that I did not know could be saved, and I will be eternally grateful for everything this program has given me thus far and curious to uncover what it will bring me in the days to come. If I can make at least one person feel my love of music through my performance, then I have done what I have set out to do.
